LoonSong Instruments is the web site of Robert Woudsma, budding guitar maker

I have now completed four guitars; the first two were from kits where much of the items were pre-cut or pre-bent or pre-shaped.

With the third guitar I wanted to source all woods in their raw, rough-cut state and shape, bend and join the woods from scratch. The classical guitar that resulted was truly a fine work with a beautiful sound to match.

The fourth guitar was begun in September of 2010 and was finished in August 2011 after about 500 hours of effort. In this dreadnought-style guitar I wanted to incorporate some of the more interesting features that I had seen in other custom guitars. With this guitar I also embarked on my first foray into inlaying “Mother-of-Pearl” shell into the guitars “peghead”. It went so well that I inlaid shell into a few other places as well.

Enjoy...
