The Back Story...

Long before his retirement, my father began looking for a good activity to begin getting involved in that would carry him into his retirement. He looked for one that he could leave for a time when he wanted to, that would be creative, would allow him to meet people, and maybe also put a couple of dollars in his pocket. He chose clock repair for which he is now known across Eastern Ontario. It accomplished all those things.

A very wise idea, I thought. In considering a suitable pass-time to enjoy in my retirement (which is years down the road yet) I took into account some of the same requirements and, coupled with my love of playing the guitar, came up with guitar-making or being a "Luthier".

After some investigation and buying a few books, I bought my first guitar making kit from Steward-MacDonald. It was a "Triple-O" style steel string guitar.

Since that time I have built three guitars with a fourth in the construction stage now.

At this point, none of the guitars are for sale; I’m still in my apprenticeship phase. Soon I hope to make quality guitars consistency. Then the for sale sign goes on.
